University of Jinan is a comprehensive university under the administration of Shandong Province and Jinan City, with the former as the main administrator. The university, authorized to confer bachelor's and master's degrees, is mainly committed in offering courses for bachelor candidates and is actively developing education for master candidates, and its enrollment and job market cover the whole country. Jiang Minhua, academician of CAS, the noted material scientist, is acting as honorary president of the University.
The university was instituted in 1948. Over the past 50 years, it has provided nearly 100,000 graduates for the country, with former Vice Chairman of CPPCC, president of CAE and academician of both CAS and CAE Song Jian as one of them.
